ATLANTA FIRE HOCKEY CLUB

The Atlanta Fire Hockey club is the Premier Youth Hockey club in the southeastern United States,and in the Atlanta hockey community.  The program encompasses learn to play hockey through 18U teams and programs. The teams skill levels range from House league development programs all the way to premier Travel level teams. Boasting 4 National Championships, including three straight 14U National Championships from 2017-19, the program continues to develop and move players to both Prep School, and High level Jr hockey after players move on from our development program.

8U MITE JAMBOREE

Tournament Play teams that will participate in multiple Jamboree weekends (half Ice Hockey).

​

Team Breakdowns:

The 8 U travel team will once again play in the Inner City Jamboree league, as well as travel to multiple tournaments throughout the season. 

The team gets 2 team practices, as well as skill sessions on Monday.

Tentative Practice Schedule:
Monday: Skills practice with 10U House league 5:40 pm

Tuesday: Skill session ( half ice ) 5:30 pm

Friday: Half ice Practice 5:45 pm

10U A

Team Breakdown:                 

This team will play a challenging SYTHL league schedule where the level they play will be determined at the SYTHL leveling tournament which last year took place the first week in August.

They will participate in southeastern district tournaments throughout the season, with a major focus on player development. 

This team will be comprised of the players moving from our 8U division as well as house league all-star players moving into the travel level.

10U AA

Team Breakdown:                 

The top 10U players in the city will compete in a newly formed Southeastern Showcase League to challenge the players at an elite level.

With an extreme focus on Individual development, and introducing team concepts, our top 10U team will once again be one of the best teams in the southeast.

12U A

Team Breakdown:

This full season hockey team will play a challenging 40-45 game season and compete in the Southern Youth Hockey League.

Coach Jacobs brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, paired with a fun environment for all to grow as players, and have fun playing.

The SYTHL consists of 5 league weekends, and the tournament weekend.  The team will compete in a Labor Day tournament, one more before Christmas, followed by two tournaments, 1 in January, and 1 in February.

  QUEBEC PREP

Coaches: Kevin Hoy

Team Breakdown:

Our Quebec prep team will compete in the SYTHL league, as well as multiple tournaments throughout the southeast district. 

With the goal of developing a group of players ready to play for 12U Quebec the next season.

Kevin Hoy, a recent transplant has been with the Miami Toros Hockey program for many seasons and has relocated to Atlanta. He will run our goalie development program, as well as be on our hockey development staff. 

Kevin played at Becker College, and had a short minor league career with Danbury FHL , and Elmira ECHL .

12U PEEWEE QUEBEC

Team Breakdown:

One of the most exciting seasons of hockey for all 12U players, our Quebec team will play in the Southeastern Showcase League as well as a tough independent and tournament schedule to challenge the players at the highest level.

The month of February, our team will play in the most famous Tournament worldwide.

14 U A Travel 

Head Coach: Nic Valis

Team Breakdown:

The Bantam travel team will be comprised of the top players to play within the A level bracket for the 14U SYTHL Division.  They will play a very competitive schedule, and based on the team’s strength be placed in the most challenging setting possible.

The team will train 3x a week on ice, and play a solid 45-50 game season including league play.

Coach Nic Valis, is coming off an SYTHL league title at the 14U A2 division, and looks to continue to develop players and create a winning culture.

14 U SYTHL 

Head Coach: Will Macdonald

Team Breakdown:

This seasons 14U SYTHL team will be comprised of players who aren't quite ready to make the jump to our National Bound team.  

We target to play SYTHL AA level, and play a challenging tournament and exhibition schedule.

Coach Will Macdonald, a Fire alumni and former D1and pro player at Princeton University, as well as the Atlanta Gladiators, brings a tonne of hockey experience and tremendous passion to the game.

The team will train 3x a week on ice, and play a solid 45-50 game season including league play.

14U PREMIER NATIONAL BOUND

Team Breakdown:

Capturing 3 of the past 4 USA Hockey National Championships, the 14 U Premier team will be looking to continue to grow players and get them ready for Juniors, Prep School hockey in the coming seasons.

Chris Jones, will once again lead the 14 U premier, and is well known as one of the best Youth hockey coaches in the country.

3 straight National Championships, and more than 40 players in 3 seasons have moved on to Junior and Prep School teams.

16U TRAVEL

Head Coach: Shayne Mitchell 

Assistant Coach: Jon Cooley 

 

Team Breakdown:

This team will play in the SYTHL 16U  division which normally consists of 4-6 teams in the South East Region, and are affiliated with the SYTHL league.

Along with the SYTHL schedule this team will compete in 4-5 tournaments primarily in the South East region with the expectation that tournaments are within driving distance from Atlanta.  In the past we have had the opportunity for one tournament that would require air travel (this may be a possibility again).

Coach Shayne Mitchell coming off a successful first season as a head coach, will once again look to build a Championship culture throughout the season.  Jon Cooley, entering his 5th season with the Atlanta Fire brings a wealth of knowledge as a former High School hockey coach in Wisconsin.

16U AA SYTHL

Team Breakdown:

Projected AA SYTHL Southeastern level team comprised of the top 2005-06 to compete in the SYTHL league as well as tournaments throughout the southeast with the possibility of one major tournament trip.

This team will be used a feeder for our top National bound hockey club.  Players will earn call ups if there is injuries, or roster spots available.

16U PREMIER NATIONAL BOUND

Team Breakdown:

After another State Championship in 2020-21, the nucleus of the 2005 hockey club will return and compete in the ECEL and Southeastern Showcase leagues for the 2021-22 season.

 

With a focus on development, and playing the highest level of competition in the country, our 16 U premier team will look to move our top players on to high level Junior and Prep School hockey teams.

18U TRAVEL

Head Coaches: Kyle Stevenson/Paul Connors

Team Breakdown:

Coming off the 2020-21 State Championships and a berth at USA Nationals, the 18 U Fire will look to reload and be once again the best 18 U team in the city.

​

Coaches Kyle Stevenson, a former Boston University player and club hockey coach, alongside Paul Connors bring a tremendous environment for players to not only compete and a high level, but make sure the game remains fun.  

This team will play in the SYTHL 18U AA division which normally consists of 4-6 teams in the South East Region.  These teams typically range from Alabama, Tennessee, and the Greater Atlanta area.  The league is scoped where each team hosts a local weekend with all teams expected to travel to the local team’s facilities.

Along with the SYTHL schedule this team will compete in 4-5 tournaments primarily in the South East region with the expectation that tournaments are within driving distance from Atlanta.  In the past we have had the opportunity for one tournament that would require air travel (this may be a possibility again).
